Fast Food Density

As part of a broader research study to explore the population level risk factors for childhood obesity the Childhood Measurement Programme data was linked to other data sources to look for associations.  This broader research study will be added here once finalised.

As part of this broader research study the fast food density per 100,000 population was calculated for Wales. This short report describes the methods used to generate the fast food density per 100,000 population.  This utilised the Food Standards Agency food standards ratings data to identify premises.  The report outlines the clear inclusion and exclusion criteria together with the calculations for each local authority area.  This is then presented in the form of a heat map for Wales to compare density of fast food outlets by local authority area visually.
