Looking after your mental health

Motherhood is a time when all experiences are new, and the coronavirus pandemic has presented an additional challenge to new parents.   It's important for you to look after your own mental health to enable you to manage the transition into this new way of life. Pregnancy and parenthood can be a very emotional experience and it can sometimes be difficult to know whether your feelings are a manageable part of the transition, or a sign that you may benefit from additional support.

Speak to your midwife or health visitor if you or your partner are struggling – they are there to support you.

Lots of new mums have found making a pregnancy and post-birth wellbeing plan helps them to look after themselves and be prepared for after the birth of their baby. You can make a pregnancy and post-birth wellbeing plan on Tommy's.
