Where do I go for further information or help?

There is further information about TB on the NHS 111 Wales website, at https://111.wales.nhs.uk/encyclopaedia/t/article/tuberculosis(tb).

TB is rare in Wales as a whole. Wales has the lowest rate of TB per 100,000 population compared to other regions of the UK.

Latent TB is not infectious and cannot be passed to other people, and people who have a latent form of TB do not need urgent treatment. However, treatment is recommended to prevent them from developing active TB disease.

Active TB is a serious but treatable infection that is successfully cured if antibiotics are taken for the correct amount of time.

TB is difficult to transmit and requires close and prolonged contact with an infectious individual for a person to become infected.

Anyone with symptoms should contact their GP, who will provide appropriate advice and refer to TB screening if required.
