Friday, 20 September 2019

Nine awards were presented to organisations across Wales for their innovative work that has transformed the experience and outcomes for people in Wales.

Some of the winning projects include a Motor Neurone Disease Care Network, Trauma Risk Management Service and the Learning Disabilities dream team.

The winners came from all across Wales and Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust won the Outstanding Contribution to Transforming Health and Care Award.

Minister for Health and Social Services, Vaughan Gething said,

“Each year I’m overwhelmed by the dedication, ingenuity and drive of our NHS staff to make a positive change on behalf of the people of Wales. Given the unprecedented uncertainty that we are living through the need for hope and inspiration is even greater than usual. The awards are a celebration of your commitment and hard work. I extend my congratulations to each of the winners and finalists. Thank you for continuing to be a beacon of hope and inspiration.”

Dr Andrew Goodall, NHS Wales Director General of Health and Social Services and Chief Executive, said: “It’s a privilege to be involved with the twelfth year of the NHS Wales Awards. The Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the talent, commitment and innovation of staff who strive to improve outcomes for people using services in Wales.

I congratulate all the winners, both past years and present, for their achievements and ongoing work to share best practice across the NHS in Wales. Service and patient experience is better as a result of their efforts.”

The NHS Wales Awards are organised by 1000 Lives Improvement, the national improvement service for NHS Wales. The Awards were launched in 2008 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NHS and recognise and promote good practice across Wales. This year’s awards were sponsored by Life Sciences Hub Wales and ABPI.

Entries were received from a range of organisations, revealing a high standard of innovative and diverse work that has transformed the experience and outcomes for people in Wales.
