Educational Workbooks have been produced specifically for Care Home and Domiciliary Care settings and have been developed collaboratively by Public Health Wales IPC Team and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. We thank our collaborators in Wales for supporting the pilot study and advising on content and distribution, these include Care Forum Wales, National Commissioning Board, Health Education Improvement Wales, Social Care Wales and Welsh Government. We also acknowledge all care homes and domiciliary care providers who took part in the pilot which helped to make improvements for the 2nd edition which is now available.
These 76-80 page A5 Workbooks are for each member of staff to keep as part of their portfolio as well as a point of reference for day to day working. The Workbooks have a guided learning time of 3 hours to complete with ‘Test your knowledge’ at the end of each section with a certificate to be signed off by management. On completion of the Workbooks, it can count towards your CPD requirement for your profession and requirements for social care registration.
The certificates are valid for a year with a new test sheet and certificate available to order from Spring 2024. The workbooks will be reviewed in 2025 and any changes in policy will be posted in the updates section of the website.

Respiratory and cough hygiene
Safe disposal of waste
Safe management of blood and body fluid spillages
Safe management of care equipment
These workbooks are available in Welsh as a electronic version or in English as a physical paper copy. Physical paper copies will be available for dispatch from the 1st of September.
