Applying to the Scheme

To become registered on the UK Public Health Register, a portfolio must be assessed through a local assessment scheme.  The scheme for Wales is co-ordinated by the People and Organisational Development Team at Public Health Wales.

Practitioners accepted on to the Welsh scheme are able to access a range of support to develop their portfolio of evidence against the 34 standards.  This includes CPD opportunities and mentoring around self-assessment, collating evidence and demonstrating competence. Applicants are allocated a mentor, an assessor, and access to an online assessment tool.

Practitioners potentially interested in the Practitioner Registration Scheme should complete an application form with the support of their line manager, and a self- assessment form.   There is usually one new cohort taken on annually.

We welcome enquiries about any aspect of the Public Health Practitioner Registration Scheme.
