FOI 2023 27 - Dental

Information Requested:

Dear Public Health Wales,

I first approached NHS Dental Services and NHS England with this Freedom of Information request, and they were unable to provide the information I needed and referred me to you.

I am looking for documents on NHS policy regarding equal access to dentistry in Wales for disabled NHS patients, especially when they are seeing private dentists who provide dental services in Wales for the NHS.

(1) Is there a specific policy document that refers to the standard of access that private dentists must provide for disabled patients when providing NHS dental services? If so, could you please provide the title and send the document as an attachment or link to it online?

(2) Are there any policy documents that are about access to dental services for NHS patients generally? If so, could you please provide the title and send the document as an attachment or link to it online? Do these policy documents also apply to private dentists providing NHS treatment?

Information provided for the answer:

Thank you for your recent request dated 20th February 2023.
This information is not held by Public Health Wales.  Please direct your request to Welsh Government and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales that uses Private Dentistry Regulations and other relevant legislation to regulate private dental practices in Wales.  Their contact details are below.
