Wales NHS waiting lists
Could you please tell me what NHS Wales waiting lists are on the operations below:
Abdominal hernia
Hernia repairs
Cataract surgery
Hip replacement
Knee replacement
MRI scans
Does NHS Wales keep any comparative lists for England?
And has NHS Wales any plans to reduce waiting lists by paying for patients either to
1. Pay for patients to receive operations in England?
2. Attend private hospitals in Wales?
Thank you for your request dated 31st November 2023.
Public Health Wales does not hold this information.
It is the responsibility of individual Health Boards to plan and manage the provision of services for their population in order to manage waiting lists. Welsh Government have provided an additional £170m across NHS Wales to support the recovery of waiting time delivery post the COVID pandemic, and Health Boards will determine how those funds, alongside their core funding are utilised to meet the required standards.
Public Health Wales is the public health service for Wales and as such is an independent NHS Trust. Therefore, do not have access to this information. As an organisation we have no jurisdiction over the activities of Health Boards and other NHS Wales organisations and frequently do not have access to the data that they produce.
I have provided contact details for each Health Board below, you would need to contact them individually for the information they hold.
