Why is giving up smoking important for me and my baby?

If you or your partner are a smoker, you’re more likely to get a respiratory infection and have a higher risk of those infections becoming severe.  Coronavirus is an acute respiratory infection.  The hand to mouth action of smoking can increase the risk of catching the virus.  Also, if someone smokes in your  home, your baby will be exposed to second-hand smoke, which can impact on the health of you baby, and increase their risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS also known as Cot Death).
