Our Conversation – Future Ways of Working

Published: 10 March 2021

Registration is open for staff to participate in Our Conversation, a series of open discussions about the best ways we have worked in the past, the best ways we work now and exploring what we could and should take forward into our future.

Within our People Strategy 2030, we set out our vision to have a flexible, sustainable and thriving Public Health Wales workforce with the capability, capacity and desire to successfully deliver our Long Term Strategy.

The Strategy sets out how this can be achieved across nine core themes, including Employee Experience, and understanding what matters most to our current and future employees and creating a proposition that works for all.

Neil Lewis, Acting Director of People and Organisational Development, explains:

“The last twelve months have transformed how we, collectively and often individually, work.  Whilst the health protection response remains our priority, we understand that we are heading towards a new phase for Public Health Wales and many of us are wondering, indeed talking about, what this looks like for us.

“I’m sure many teams, like mine, have talked about what they valued from our world of work before the pandemic, including being in the same physical space together, and what has really worked for them during this last year or so, including how they have managed work around other aspects of life.

“The People and Organisational Development Team have scheduled a series of events – Our Conversation- designed as an ‘appreciative inquiry’, to discover the best ways of working we each enjoyed pre-pandemic, share new, successful ways of working experienced over the last year and to talk about our vision of the future.

“The Executive Team are committed to enabling as many people as possible from across the organisation to participate, both in virtual conversations and by submitting reflections electronically.  Let’s use this unique opportunity to share our thoughts and stories and identify what really works and could be taken forward into our future ways of working, realising our collective workforce vision.”

Staff can register for events by completing the registration form before 31 March, noting where you work, your role and the dates you can attend.  The team will allocate the first sessions no later than the 7 April, seeking to get as broader representation from different groups as possible in each event.

Please use the same form to request an electronic workbook if you cannot attend an Our Conversation session.
