Confident vaccine conversations - behavioural science and Motivational Interviewing approach

Description

This module aims to provide skills and knowledge to enable staff to feel more confident starting vaccine related conversations and improve effectiveness of conversation in order to reduce resistance and conflict. The module explains practical Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques that can be used to build skills that transfer beyond vaccines to other conversations in healthcare roles.  

The module has been developed in collaboration with, Public Health Wales Health Protection Division: Training, Guidance and Behavioural Science Team, Public Health Wales: Behavioural Science Unit and Public Health Wales Health Protection Division: Vaccine Preventable Disease programme 

Continual Professional Development (CPD)  

As part of the resources for the module there is a CPD handbook with activities you can undertake as you work through the module. You will find the handbook embedded into the eLearning module.  

Suitable for:

The module is aimed at All NHS Wales staff involved in delivering or supporting immunisation programmes. It is also useful for staff who are new to vaccine conversations and those who want to refresh or refine their approach.

Duration:

This module should take approximately 3 hours to complete. The module also includes an additional 4 hours of activities that can be used for CPD to help you on your MI journey.

Registration:

NHS Wales staff can access the module via ESR. For more guidance on how to access the course see ESR, see the ESR access guide.

Staff who don’t have access to ESR or work outside of NHS Wales will need a username and password to access the Learning@Wales website. Click on the course name and you will be prompted for an enrolment key. The enrolment key for GP practices is your practice W code followed by ! e.g. W12345! For other users, if you are unsure of your enrolment key please contact the Helpdesk on eAteb@wales.nhs.uk.
