We aim to send you the result of the breast screen by post within three weeks.
Occasionally screening results take longer than three weeks.
There can be several reasons for the delays including mammograms waiting to be read, waiting to view your previous mammograms or waiting for another appointment.
If your mammogram shows no abnormality you will be informed and invited to come for screening again in three years time, provided you have not reached the age of 70.
If you are over 70 you can still make an appointment to attend for screening, please contact your local screening centre.
If your mammogram shows a possible abnormality you will be offered an appointment in one of our screening centres. You will be examined by a doctor and may be offered further tests.
