We aim to influence and inform policy at a national and local level, working closely with colleagues across Public Health Wales and other stakeholder organisations to improve health and reduce inequalities.
The Division consists of the following Teams:
- Policy and Partnerships Team: The Policy Team co-ordinates Public Health Wales’ participation in, and monitoring of, consultations, policy development and legislation impacting on population health. A key focus of our work is to help build a multi-sectoral approach, for example through the Early Intervention and Prevention Team (funded by South Wales Police) who are delivering a joint programme of work with the criminal justice sector, including the South Wales’ Police and Crime Commissioner. We are also delivering a joint workplan on health and housing with Community Housing Cymru.
- Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit: The role of the Unit is to support the development and effective use of the health impact assessment (HIA) approach in Wales through collaborations and by providing training, guidance, information and advice on all aspects of HIA practice.
- Health and Sustainability Hub: The Hub supports Public Health Wales to meet its duties under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 and also works with our partners to maximise the opportunities to improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities.
