Asthma in Swansea (2009)

Key Messages

Asthma in Swansea was a study designed by the National Public Health Service for Wales (NPHS) in collaboration with the Health Information Research Unit (HIRU). The study was undertaken in response to an enquiry about asthma by a group of Swansea residents concerned about the potentially detrimental effect on health resulting from living adjacent to a landfill site. The NPHS were requested to estimate the prevalence of asthma at the small area level to determine if the data supported the residents’ concerns.
