Improvement Cymru joins NHS Wales Executive

From 1 April 2023, Improvement Cymru becomes part of the NHS Wales Executive, alongside NHS Wales Collaborative, Delivery Unit, and Finance Delivery Unit.

As a subsidiary brand of the NHS Wales Executive, Improvement Cymru will operate in shadow format for the first 12 months before formally join the NHS Wales Executive in April 2024.

This means Improvement Cymru can continue to provide ongoing support as part of current work plans, as well as working alongside colleagues in the NHS Wales Executive to provide united support across the NHS Wales system.

John Boulton, Director of Improvement Cymru, said: “We remain focused on supporting the creation of the best quality health and care system for Wales so that everyone has access to safe, effective and efficient care in the right place and at the right time.

We now have a great opportunity to link with colleagues in the NHS Wales Executive to provide united support across the NHS Wales system.

“I want to reassure the people and teams that we work with that Improvement Cymru’s work continues, including the Safe Care Together programme with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and NHS Wales health boards and trusts, and a range of nationally commissioned support working collaboratively with key partners.”
