It was broadcast live from a studio in Cardiff, delegates joined online with the opportunity to network and learn about a wide range of subjects on the latest knowledge and experiences in improvement.
The event was opened by Eluned Morgan MS, Minister for Health and Social Services, who thanked attendees for their continued commitment to health and care in Wales, and said, “We need to learn and improve together. Today offers many opportunities to help us progress our quality and safety journey in Wales.”
The Minister also announced the return of the NHS Wales Awards for 2022 and encouraged entries from across the country, to showcase the talents of our amazing health and care teams across NHS Wales.

Attendees enjoyed a series of panel discussions and talks sharing best practices from teams and experts across Wales and the rest of the world, with a focus on Systems to Support and Improve Patient Safety.
The conference included sessions on: Patient Safety in Wales, Safety Perspectives in the System, Safer Flow, Managing for Quality, and A Whole System Approach to Safety. There were breakout sessions on the Fundamentals in Safe Care (which included Person-centred Care, Leadership, Reliability, Communication and Team Work). In addition, there were skills-building sessions from Improvement Cymru Academy and Q Lab Cymru.
John Boulton, Director of Improvement Cymru, said, “Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this year’s conference, we were spoilt with a constant succession of superb speakers delivering excellent sessions. We’re looking forward to planning the next one.”
