Description

Infection Prevention Control Week provides an excellent opportunity for workplaces in Wales to reinforce their commitment in creating a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us the vital importance of infection prevention, not just for our own wellbeing but also for the wellbeing of our colleagues, clients, and loved ones.

Here are a few essential reminders and actions we can all take to promote infection prevention in our workplace:

  1. Hand Hygiene: Washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of infections. Hand sanitizers should also be readily available in common areas.
  2. Sanitisation and Cleaning: Cleaning teams work hard to keep workplaces clean, but we can all play a role in keeping our immediate workspaces tidy and sanitized. Wipe down frequently-touched surfaces regularly.
  3. Respecting Health Guidelines: If you experience any symptoms of illness or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for an infection, please follow your company guidelines.
  4. Vaccination: Encourage everyone eligible to get vaccinated against infectious diseases. Vaccinations are a powerful tool in preventing severe illnesses and protecting our community.
  5. Remote Work Consideration: When feasible, consider working remotely to reduce the density in the workplace and minimize potential exposure risks.
