Flooding can affect physical and mental health, in the short or longer term. These pages describe what people can do to protect their health during and after flooding. Simply, our advice is to stay out of floodwater, to wash your hands after contact with flood water or any item that has been in flood water and to make sure that friends, family and neighbours are looked after during floods, during clean-up and throughout the time it may take to get back to normal.
