2010 – Evaluation of a national child oral health improvement programme Stage I Part II

2011 – Evaluation of a national child oral health improvement programme Stage I Part III

2012 – Evaluation of a national child oral health improvement programme Stage II Part I

2013 – Evaluation of a national child oral health improvement programme Stage II Part II

2015 – Evaluation of a national child oral health improvement programme Stage II Part III

Oral Health Epidemiology

Well conducted dental epidemiology surveys are a key way to assess the oral health of children, and to help to evaluate the impact of Designed to Smile.

The surveys are carried out by appropriately trained and calibrated Community Dental Services clinicians, supported by dental nurses.

The dental epidemiology survey reports are produced by the Welsh Oral Health Information Unit.

Childhood oral health in Wales is also monitored through the annual reporting of paediatric dental general anaesthetic operations.
