Pre-school vaccination survey insight 2025

Background
Childhood vaccination rates in Wales have declined over the past decade, with further disruption following the COVID-19 pandemic. Maintaining high vaccination uptake is essential to protect children from serious vaccine-preventable diseases and to reduce health inequalities. To support recovery and improve uptake, it is important to understand parents’ confidence in vaccines, their experiences of accessing immunisation services, and their ability to access clear, accurate and trustworthy information.
To inform this work, we developed a survey to explore parental awareness, attitudes, experiences and information needs relating to the routine childhood immunisation programme in Wales.
The findings provided valuable insights into parents’ awareness, attitudes and experiences of childhood vaccination, that will help to improve understanding of the factors that may influence vaccination decisions. These insights can help inform future communication, engagement and service improvement activities aimed at supporting equitable access to immunisation information and services across Wales
The survey ran from September to December 2025 via the online CIVICA platform and was aimed at parents/carers of children aged 0-5 years.
