FOI 937 - UK IPC Cell

 

Information Requested:

NHS England advise that I should contact you for this information as they do not hold it themselves.  I would like to know the following please:

The expertise and/or specialisms of the members and advisors from PHW of the UK IPC Cell. I do not require their names or individual details , but I would like to know what their expertise is.

I would like to know how many there are of each of the following there are:
(a)  infectious diseases doctors or nurses?
(b)  virologists?
(c)  public health officials?
(d)  epidemiologists?
(e)  health service managers?
(f)  occupational or air hygienists
(g) aerosol scientists
(h) natural ventilation engineers
(i) mechanical ventilation engineers
(j) are there other specialisms from PHW on the UK IPC Cell which are not mentioned above, and if so what specialisms are they and how many people are in each?
(k) what is the total number of experts from PHW who are members and/or advisors of the IPC Cell?
 

 

Information provided for the answer:

Thank you for your recent request dated 30 May 2022.
The UK IPC cell was set up in January 2020 under the emergency response arrangements of NHSE&I. There was representation from across the 4-nations. From the beginning there has been representation on the group from the HARP IPC Team.
Over the period from January 2020 to May 2022 there have been three full members of the UK IPC Cell from PHW and one observer.

The expertise of the members is Infection Prevention and Control. One is a medical microbiologist with Infection Control Doctor expertise, two are Consultant Nurses in Infection Prevention and Control.
