FOI 2023 72 - Research Trends in Cancer Incidences

Information Requested:

I am currently conducting a research project that involves understanding the trends in cancer incidence in Wales.

I have been able to find data up until the year 2019 on your official statistics webpage (https://phw.nhs.wales/data/official-statistics/). However, I have not been able to locate the data for the years 2020, 2021, 2022, and any preliminary data for 2023, if available.

I understand from your webpage that future statistics releases are typically listed on the Welsh Government Official Statistics Release Calendar. However, it appears the link to this resource is currently not working. I would appreciate it if you could provide a revised timeline for your publications, if available. (https://gov.wales/statistics-and-research/public-health-wales-outputs/?lang=en)(currently a dead link)

The specific data I am primarily interested in is the annual count of individuals with "All malignancies excluding NMSC". Ideally, I would appreciate a breakdown by type of cancer. While demographic and age breakdowns would certainly be helpful to have, they are not critical for the purposes of my current research.

I understand that data collection and processing takes time, and there could be delays due to various reasons. However, these data points are integral to my study, and I would greatly appreciate any assistance you could provide.

Could you kindly advise on the availability of this data or direct me to the appropriate department or individuals who may be able to assist further?

Thank you in advance for your help. Your efforts are very much appreciated, and I look forward to your response.

Thank you for your recent request dated 17th May 2023.
