Can I share a file on Teams with partners outside the NHS?

Teams and the chat function can be used to share files and information within Public Health Wales –though please continue to be cautious with information you are sharing that could identify a person(s). Any files that contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII) should only be shared outside of the organisation to an approved list where the Transport Layer Security (TLS) is enabled. For a full list of these organisations and secure email addresses please contact the information governance team.  

For organisations not on the list, anything including identifiable information must be sent using the approved secure file sharing methods such as secure email, the Secure File Sharing Portal and its MOVEit plug-in. Request access to these applications by contacting the service desk.  

It's important to note that not all information can be shared and may require a data sharing agreement to be in place.
