Privacy notice: Covid-19 vaccine programme

During the current COVID-19 emergency the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is every bit as important to us as it always has been and Public Health Wales is making every effort to ensure that your data is processed lawfully, fairly and transparently, and that it is kept safe and secure. In order to keep you fully informed however, we have some specific arrangements in place which we want to tell you about.

In order to oversee preparations for the COVID-19 vaccine delivery programme in Wales – and the offer of a vaccine to health and care staff. A validation exercise will shortly commence to determine eligibility for the vaccine using the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). The data being used for this purpose will be the minimum amount necessary in order to create lists of those staff to be offered a vaccination.

To support the creation of this list, demographic details already held about you in the ESR will be shared with the NHS Wales Informatics Services (NWIS). Data will be shared with NWIS in a secure manner, and NWIS will use this data to ensure staff are accurately identified ahead of the administration of any vaccine. Your details are not kept for any longer than they are required for these purposes and when no longer required are securely disposed of.
