I am travelling to a country that has measles. Do I need an MMR vaccine?

Anyone who is travelling to an area that is known to have had outbreaks of measles, mumps or rubella should have the MMR vaccine before they travel. This only applies if they have not received two doses of the MMR vaccine previously. If your child is aged over six months, they may be able to be vaccinated earlier than normal if they are travelling to high-risk areas. You should discuss this with your GP or nurse. Any child who is given the MMR vaccine before the age of 12 months should still receive two further routine doses at recommended ages.

You can get more information about the vaccines you need for travelling at A-Z Vaccination Information - Public Health Wales (nhs.wales)
