What's the work in this area?

The team’s work has included publishing Matrics Cymru, the first guidance for delivering evidence based psychological therapies in Wales and the associated National Plan to support implementation. Matrics Plant (Guidance on the Delivery of Psychological Interventions for Children and Young People in Wales) was published in 2020 and its associated Implementation Plan in 2021. The Evidence Tables, which support the delivery of psychological interventions for adults, young people and children, have been updated and were last revised in 2023.

Who is the team working with?

The team works primarily alongside colleagues in Welsh Government and members of the National Psychological Therapies Management Committee (NPTMC). The NPTMC includes people with lived experience and representatives of multi-agency multi-disciplinary local committees across Wales.

What are the next steps?

The publication of:

  • A rapid review of the research to improve access to, and quality of, psychological interventions for people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
  • Guidance and an associated action plan to improve access to, and provision of, psychological interventions to people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities. 
  • A systematic review of interventions aimed at improving emotional regulation in children, adolescents, and adults.

Development of guidance on the delivery of psychological interventions for people with a learning disability.
