2. What kind of information was disclosed?

In the majority of cases (16,179 people) the information consisted of their initials, date of birth, local authority area and sex. However, for 1926 people who are either residing in a closed setting such as a  nursing homes/supported housing or who share the same postcode as a closed setting,  the information also included the name of the place of the setting relating to that postcode. It did not contain the person’s NHS number and we do not believe it would be possible to access other health or financial records using this data alone. However, we recognise that the disclosure of any confidential personal information is likely to cause concern and anxiety among those affected and we deeply regret that this has happened.
