Meningococcal group B (MenB) vaccine
There has been a ministerial announcement for a time-limited vaccination offer. This is for the Meningococcal Group B (MenB) vaccine.
We are awaiting the final policy in Wales on eligibility and how the vaccine will be offered. More information will follow once available.
Babies and young children
The MenB vaccine helps protect babies from meningitis and sepsis caused by meningococcal group B bacteria. It does not protect against other types of meningococcal bacteria.
Young people
The MenB vaccination will be offered to all those aged 17 and 18 who were born between 01/09/2007 and 31/08/2008. The vaccine is also available to those turning 25 after 31/12/2026 who will be attending Higher Education or Residential Further Education for the first time from Autumn 2026.
Gonorrhoea
A vaccine is available to help protect against gonorrhoea. In Wales, the NHS offers the vaccine on a case-by-case basis to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM).
