Gwên am Byth Programme Annual report 2025 to 2026

This report collates activity related to the Gwên am Byth programme undertaken by the Community Dental Services in the seven Local Health Boards in Wales. The reporting period is from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
During 2025 to 2026, the programme continued to expand its reach across Wales, with strong engagement from care homes and wider health and social care partners. Activity focused on supporting participating homes, delivering staff training, carrying out quality assurance visits, and strengthening partnership working across local health boards.
Programme coverage
- 497 care homes participated across Wales
- 585 eligible care homes in total
- 85% of eligible care homes involved in the programme
Training delivered
- 896 training sessions delivered
- 3,792 care home staff trained
- 866 domiciliary care staff trained
- 1,107 healthcare professionals with links to care homes trained
Quality assurance
- 377 care homes received two quality assurance visits during the year
- 144 care homes received one quality assurance visit
