What is safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the process of protecting children, young people, and adults at risk from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm. It involves promoting their welfare, ensuring they are safe, and taking action when there are concerns about their wellbeing. Everyone has a responsibility to identify risks, report concerns, and help create safe environments.
If you are concerned about a child or adult at risk please ring 999 in an emergency, or contact your local authority children or adult services.
National Safeguarding Service
The National Safeguarding Service is a team of experts who provide a strategic focus and professional lead in order to improve safeguarding across the NHS in Wales.
Public Health Wales employees can access safeguarding advice and support via their Intranet/Sharepoint.
