This annual surveillance report summarises trends in socioeconomic inequalities and geographic variation in the uptake of routine childhood immunisations in Wales up to 2025-26.

Public Health Wales Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme carry out surveillance for socio-economic and geographic (Local Authority level) inequalities in uptake of routine childhood immunisations. The annual reports contain additional health board specific data in appendices.

Uptake is higher in least deprived areas across all age groups: 94.6% versus 89.6% at age 1, 93.3% versus 87.5% at age 2, 89.0% versus 79.8% at age 4, 92.2% versus 82.7% at age 5, and 74.2% versus 54.0% at age 15. Compared with 2024–25, the inequality gap increased slightly for age 1 and decreased for ages 2, 4, 5 and 15, with the largest reduction at age 15. The infographic also shows health board variation, with inequalities increasing for ages 1, 2 and 4, and decreasing for ages 5 and 15. A line chart shows deprivation gaps over time, with the largest gap occurring at age 15. The infographic concludes that routine catch-up activities help increase vaccine uptake and reduce inequalities.
