Headline summary

From April 2025 to March 2026, there have been small decreases in most routine immunisations for children up to five years of age. However, uptake of routine vaccinations in adolescents remained stable, or increased in some cases. Significant inequalities remain in completion of the routine schedule by four years of age, with the inequality gap slightly reducing over the past year (reflecting a small decrease in vaccination uptake by four years in the least deprived areas of Wales).

Uptake at age 1 ranges from 90.9% to 94.6%, and at age 2 from 91.7% to 92.5%. At age 4, 84.6% of children are up to date with vaccinations. HPV vaccine uptake in secondary school pupils is shown over time and remains above 70%. At age 16, MMR uptake is high (95.9% for first dose and 93.5% for second dose), while uptake of teenage booster and MenACWY vaccines is around 76%.
