Can I still get help and advice from my health visitor or GP?

Yes. You and your family will still receive the support you need from your local health visiting service. The way the service is delivered may look different at the moment, with changes to some routine contacts and most appointments taking place over the phone or using video calling, but the service is still there to answer any questions you have. Your health visitor will explain how your local services are adapting to the current situation and how they can continue to support you whenever any issues arise that you and your family need help with.

NHS Direct Wales, GPs and hospitals are all still providing the same care that they have always done. If your baby or toddler is sick it is important that you call NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 ( or 111 if available in your area) or phone your GP for advice, as you would have normally. If you or your child experience a medical emergency you should call 999.

It is important to follow Welsh Government advice on social distancing during this period and this can make it harder to know what to do when your child is unwell or injured. The Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health has advice for parents on when and how to access health care safely for their children at this time.

If you do need to access healthcare services for you or your baby while anyone in your household has a suspected or confirmed coronavirus infection you should tell them about this when you call.
