I am an FtM/trans man who is registered as female. I have not yet had a chest reconstruction (top surgery) and wear a binder. I have recently been invited to attend for breast screening. Do I have to remove my binder before attending for my breast screen

We usually ask people to allow half an hour for their breast screening appointment. This allows for you to be booked into the breast clinic, undress in the cubicle, be screened by the radiographer and get dressed again.

When you attend for your appointment we will ask you to undress in the cubicles provided. You will need to remove your binder just before having your mammogram.

We ask that you remove any top undergarments and put your own top back on whilst waiting for the radiographer to call you through to the x ray room. Your top clothing will then be removed in the x ray room where there will only be a female radiographer present.
