Promoting informed choice

It is important that people can make an informed choice about whether to take part in screening or not. To do this, they must have all the facts, good and bad, so that they can make a truly informed decision on whether to take part. To make an informed choice, a person must have:

  • Access to clear, concise and accurate information in an appropriate format
  • Further support, if necessary, to help them understand screening information
  • Time to consider and take in the information.
