Antenatal Screening Wales has produced four E-learning packages for professionals who deliver antenatal screening in the NHS in Wales.

They are:

  • Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome and Patau’s syndrome screening

A resource to support midwives, sonographers, midwife sonographers and obstetricians in the delivery of Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome and Patau’s syndrome screening.

  • First Trimester Screening Resource for Sonographers

A resource to support sonographers and midwife sonographers in the delivery of Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome and Patau’s syndrome screening      

  • 18+0 to 20+6 Fetal Anomaly Ultrasound Scan

A resource to support midwives, sonographers and obstetricians in the delivery of the fetal anomaly ultrasound scan programme.

  • Antenatal Screening Wales Fetal Cardiac E-learning module

A resource to support sonographers in the delivery of the fetal anomaly ultrasound scan programme.

Frequency of completion of E-learning packages

The professionals involved in giving women pre and post test information and those who perform ultrasound screening scans in the delivery of the antenatal screening programmes are expected to complete the e-learning packages.

Recommendations on which packages should be completed by different staff groups and frequency of completion can be found in the ASW e-learning requirements by staff group document which can be found here.

Accessing the ASW E-learning packages

All of the ASW e-learning packages can be accessed via my.esr.nhs.uk. For students or those without an ESR login they can also be accessed via Learning@Wales. Once competed a certificate can be printed for CPD.
