What are the categories?

The NHS Wales Awards comprises eight categories, with an additional category for Outstanding Contribution to Transforming Health and Care. The winner of this award is chosen from the finalists of the other eight categories.

The eight categories are:

Delivering higher value health and care

Those entering this category have helped achieve outcomes that really matter to the individuals in their care and have done this in the most resource friendly way.

Delivering person-centred services

Those entering this category have taken forward work that has delivered care centred around individuals and their needs.

Empowering people to co-produce their care

Those entering this category have empowered people to work in partnership with caregivers to make decisions about their care and treatment together.

Enriching the wellbeing, capability and engagement of the health and care workforce

Those entering this category have worked to strengthen the support, training and development opportunities available to all staff across their careers and supported the health and wellbeing of the workforce.

Health and wellbeing

Those entering this category will show evidence of improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities for people in Wales, with a focus on prevention and health promotion.

Improving patient safety

Those entering this category have worked to improve care in relation to a patient safety issue or concern.

Providing services in partnership across NHS Wales

Those entering this category have improved the delivery of services and the experience for individuals through close professional integration, joint working and information sharing between NHS Wales organisations.

Working seamlessly across the public and third sector

Those entering this category have improved the delivery of services and the experience for individuals through close professional integration, joint working and information sharing across the public and third sector.

Outstanding contribution to transforming health and care

This category cannot be entered directly. The winner will be chosen from the eight category winners.
