Employee Development and Progression

Not everyone across society gets the same opportunities to access fair work and to develop new skills and progress within their workplace. Supporting employees to learn and progress enables them to become more fulfilled, which has a positive effect on their psychological wellbeing. It has been shown that people who keep learning:

  • Have greater satisfaction and optimism
  • Report higher wellbeing, greater ability to cope with stress, higher self-esteem, hope and purpose
  • Are more likely to interact with other people, which helps build and strengthen work and social relationships

In addition, developing your workforce and supporting them to progress can have a positive effect on your organisation:

  • A more diverse, skilled workforce enhances development of new ideas and insights
  • Increased employee engagement creates the environment for new ideas to be implemented
  • A secure and positive environment means workers are more likely ‘to go the extra mile’.

All of these have been proven to be key underpinning factors of higher performance, innovation and productivity in the workplace.
