About flu vaccination

Flu can be serious, especially for the very young, older people, pregnant women and those with underlying health conditions.

Last winter, more than 2,000 people in Wales needed hospital care after testing positive for flu.

If you are offered the flu vaccination, this means you are more at risk of becoming very unwell if you get flu. The vaccine will help you stay protected from serious illness.

The flu vaccine is free and is offered every year because viruses constantly change and protection fades over time.  So even if you had your vaccination last year, it is important to have it every year.

Getting vaccinated before the virus circulates is one of the best ways to protect yourself and stop the spread to those around you.

Nearly a million people in Wales get vaccinated every year to protect themselves and their loved ones against flu. Make sure you’re protected before the flu season too. Protecting yourself will also help protect those you care about.
